Speakers from all over the United States presented at the first-ever Social for Safety Conference in October 2019. Now that the 2020 event is moving to virtual, we're once again looking to the government social media community to share your stories, lessons learned and valuable advice for other agencies.
Proposal Deadline: Friday, August 14, 2020 at 12 midnight PDT.
Initial Speaker List Announced: Tuesday, August 18, 2020
These topics are a great fit for the 2020 Social for Safety Conference. You're not limited to these ideas, though, so please propose any additional topics! Keep in mind that the S4SCON audience is mainly government & public safety.
We highly recommend taking a look at all the full speaker terms that are required for selection as an S4SCON speaker. Questions? Please see our contact info in the footer of this site and reach out to us.
Approved speakers will receive complimentary registration, recognition on our website and in event promotion. If you’ve already registered and are approved to host a breakout session, your registration fee will be refunded.
Many breakout session speakers respond to our "Call for Speakers" and are selected based on their qualifications, the suitability of the topic and where it fits in with the rest of the program. We typically reach out to experts and accomplished professionals to lead keynotes and panels, and we also personally invite a number of our breakout session speakers who we know have a great perspective to share.
All breakout sessions will be presented as pre-recorded videos and will be followed by live Q&A. Presenters will work with the conference team to record their session via Zoom Webinar and will be required to be available the last 15 minutes of the scheduled session for Q&A.
In the event a speaker would prefer to record and send their session in, a max. 2 minute clip sample must be sent to the conference team for review and approval.
You will need high speed internet, a webcam and either a phone or mic on your laptop with high quality audio. If you are using PowerPoint to share information, S4SCON will provide a template slide to use. The conference team will offer a 15-minute standards and tips session before you are scheduled to record your session. They will assist in testing your video and audio quality at that time.
During the session, participants will be able to use the live chat, polling and survey features to enhance collaboration and sharing. We would recommend including a poll and perhaps having some questions they can respond to in the chat. These items will be covered in the required speaker 15 minute standards session.
Participants will also be able to access any digital documents you provide, including; PowerPoint Decks, Worksheets, Sample Sheets, and other resources. This will help them follow along or use templates or worksheets to stay engaged during the session.
You agree that we may record your session and place it on the event platform for viewing by registered participants, including after the event. GSM may use your session recording for other purposes such as marketing and may package it together with other sessions for sale and you grant GSM a copyright release to do so.
Your session recording is for exclusive use by GSM and you are not permitted to repurpose it for any other purpose, including other events. You aren’t restricted from re-creating your content and topic area for other purposes, but your GSM session recording may only be used by GSM.
