Social for Safety Conference

We're creating a Public Safety track for the Government Social Media Conference (GSMCON)! After surveying the community as we considered formats for S4SCON, we found many are looking for session topics, connections & conversations that we can offer to the greatest number of socialgovs at the most cost-effective rate right at GSMCON. Visit GSMCON.com to learn more about the hybrid event happening April 16-18, 2024 in Palm Springs, CA!

Feeling overwhelmed by social media in 2020?

At the first-ever virtual Social for Safety Conference, held September 22-23, 2020, people who manage social media for their government agencies learned how to best handle many issues that have extended to social media in 2020:

COVID-19 • Racial Justice Protests • First Amendment Issues • Masks • Community Forums • Negative Comments • Archival • Polarization • Wildfires • Misinformation • Racist Comments • Social Listening • Employee Posts • Deleting Comments • Autonomous Zones • Emergency Communications

Now you can get the online training you need to be effective on social media.

The On-Demand pass is available for previous purchasers to view through December 20, 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many public communicators are overwhelmed by 2020’s difficult conversations, but you don’t have to face frustration alone. Get the social media training you need to protect your agency, keep public trust & strengthen your outreach virtually over two days.

Stop trying to be a social media expert on your own - especially during these difficult times! Get the help you need.

Learn from industry experts and thought leaders on the best ways to use social to elevate your agency's messages during a crisis. S4SCON is a fully interactive experience where participants get to engage with speakers during a combination of live, semi-live and pre-recorded sessions, along with live chat and polling features. Following sessions, participants will also have the opportunity to e-meet other attendees, talk live with exhibitors and sponsors and more.

Simply put, this conference helps you do your job better.

You can find the speaker lineup and program information on our Schedule webpage.

The All Access Ticket offers you an engaging and immersive live experience above and beyond the base ticket for an opportunity to further connect with your peers; you really don’t want to miss out on this!

All Access participants will be able to take part in the community chat board with all other attendees, and they get the upgraded option to participate in LIVE group or one-on-one video chats with peers and presenters. Join pre-set up groups or create your own!

Want to dive in a bit deeper with keynotes and community experts? All Access participants get to attend an invite-only Q&A session with some of the presenters, industry experts and thought leaders.

The entire event is virtual and can be accessed on your computer anywhere there is internet. No downloads of special software is required.

S4SCON is NOT 6 hours of Zoom talking heads, so be prepared to participate. Sessions include live chats, polling and more.

Having time in a virtual event to synthesize the material and have real connections with others is key. Throughout each day, strategic breaks allow you to visit with exhibitors, network individually or in topic-specific groups, collaborate with your peers, earn extra points in our virtual game or take time to handle anything else you might need to. This conference is designed to help get you what you need to be the most successful government social media communicator, especially in these difficult times; it’s up to you if you’d like to participate live or go back and watch the sessions on demand!

Conferences are about the people and collaboration, and while we can’t meet this year in person, we’ve built several ways for you to connect, virtually. After sessions, you can chat in the community Q&A board, meet directly with sponsors and exhibitors or, if you upgrade to an All Access Ticket, you can join live group video meetups or even set your own one-on-one  meetups.

For this virtual event, you will need a computer or tablet and internet access.

If you are attending with the All Access Ticket, we recommend a mic and webcam (standard laptop issue is just fine) to easily be a part of any optional group and one-on-one live video rooms.

Sure. During checkout, just request the ‘pay by check’ option, and you’ll receive an invoice via email and you can mail us a check. You can optionally add more than one participant during checkout, in which case, the invoice total will be combined, requiring only one check.

All virtual tickets are nonrefundable (except for the below circumstances), but may be transferred to anyone you choose in your place, including to a member of another agency/organization. You must follow the procedures noted in our full virtual event Terms & Conditions. No fees will be refunded for transfers, and no additional charges will be assessed.

If the virtual event were to be cancelled due to an emergency situation beyond the control of organizers, your ticket cost would be refunded in full.

In the unlikely event that the entire virtual conference needed to be rescheduled for any reason, participants would have the option to attend the rescheduled event or opt for a full refund.
