Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV
When picking a venue for GSMCON, what we heard from past attendees is that it’s important to have an affordable venue, near an airport, with a spacious set up and things to do. We found that here at the Grand Sierra Resort!
For the entire conference, all sessions are located in a separate wing of the GSR (apart from the entertainment and gaming areas) and is accessible directly from attendee rooms. During sessions, attendees can expect spacious breakout rooms that allow us to offer ‘classroom seating,’ meaning many seats will have space to take notes with a table in front of you. While we’re packing our GSMCON schedule, the venue is big enough to not be crowded, but comfortable enough to genuinely connect with each other.
After hours, attendees can experience a wide variety of activities right outside your hotel room door! Enjoy everything from bowling, swimming and a golf driving range to axe throwing, an arcade, escape room, laser tag and even an in-house cinema. Check out numerous on-site restaurants including a crab house, burger joint & more.
The GSR is just six minutes away from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Our room block is available at the government per diem rate of $102 (+$2/night tourism fee+13% tax).
You’re invited! Before the conference officially starts, make sure to head in on Monday, May 1 not only for the top-notch learning in add-on, pre-conference workshops, but also to meet fellow attendees at the Welcome Reception at the Grand Sierra Resort’s Lex Nightclub. Sponsored by CivicPlus, you’ll be treated to music, light snacks and the continuing tradition of one complimentary drink ticket.
Eat like a local during the Restaurant Romp! In-person attendees can sign up to participate in Tuesday night’s Restaurant Romp where you can dine with other attendees at several different eateries in the area. This is a great way to get to know other attendees in a fun, no stress setting.
When in Reno, you can’t not see some of the surrounding areas! Spend after hours exploring the Reno-Tahoe area with fellow attendees in Reno’s Downtown and Midtown areas or take our complimentary Tuesday evening shuttle to Lake Tahoe.
Only for in-person ticket holders, attendees can choose from three different options to make your GSMCON experience exactly what you need to succeed in government social media. Our General Admission gets attendees all breakout and general sessions, but we have hands-on, smaller class upgrades available for more in-depth learning on hot topics in the socialgov field:
All Access Ticket
Everything in the General Admission Ticket, PLUS admission to these three All Access only sessions where you’ll work through these top government social media challenges in fun, interactive ways and actually practice what you learn in small group activities.
Add-on, pre-conference Workshops
These 2-hour, add-on, pre-conference workshops on Monday, May 1, 2023, are only held in-person where participants can expect in-depth sessions with small group activities ($100 each). Every person who completes any workshop will receive a digital certificate of completion!
Get everything above and more with the VIP ticket experience!
If your agency won’t allow travel or participating online is better for you, you have the option to attend GSMCON virtually!
It’s not just the best learning you’ll walk away — or log off — with, you’ll become part of the conference camaraderie that lasts for long afterwards. Get helpful info for training approvals in our downloadable event guide, tentative session schedule, and our venue page.
