Meet your emcees

Creating an exceptional experience for both in-person attendees and online participants matters to us here on Team GSM! Throughout the program, you’ll hear from special emcees and hosts who make sure your GSMCON2023 event is extraordinary.

Team GSM’s Ariana Donley returns as our in-person emcee — you’ll meet with her on the General Session stage throughout the whole program! You’ll also hear from GSMCON Conference Director and Government Social Media Founder Kristy Dalton during the program for special announcements and more.

What’s happening at the Expo Area? Richard Yeakley with the City of Longview, TX is taking over the Expo Area stage! He’s drumming up excitement, raffling off items and will be your host during networking breaks.

Special for our virtual participants, John Chen is back by popular request! As the virtual emcee, he’s guiding participants through engaging conversation, exciting networking and much more. Take a look at how much fun #VirtualLand had in 2022:

Venue & special activities

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV
When picking a venue for GSMCON, what we heard from past attendees is that it’s important to have an affordable venue, near an airport, with a spacious set up and things to do. We found that here at the Grand Sierra Resort!

For the entire conference, all sessions are located in a separate wing of the GSR (apart from the entertainment and gaming areas) and is accessible directly from attendee rooms. During sessions, attendees can expect spacious breakout rooms that allow us to offer ‘classroom seating,’ meaning many seats will have space to take notes with a table in front of you. While we’re packing our GSMCON schedule, the venue is big enough to not be crowded, but comfortable enough to genuinely connect with each other.

After hours, attendees can experience a wide variety of activities right outside your hotel room door! Enjoy everything from bowling, swimming and a golf driving range to axe throwing, an arcade, escape room, laser tag and even an in-house cinema. Check out numerous on-site restaurants including a crab house, burger joint & more.

The GSR is just six minutes away from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Our room block is available at the government per diem rate of $102 (+$2/night tourism fee+13% tax).

Special activities
You’re invited! Before the conference officially starts, make sure to head in on Monday, May 1 not only for the top-notch learning in add-on, pre-conference workshops, but also to meet fellow attendees at the Welcome Reception at the Grand Sierra Resort’s Lex Nightclub. Sponsored by CivicPlus, you’ll be treated to music, light snacks and the continuing tradition of one complimentary drink ticket.

Eat like a local during the Restaurant Romp! In-person attendees can sign up to participate in Tuesday night’s Restaurant Romp where you can dine with other attendees at several different eateries in the area. This is a great way to get to know other attendees in a fun, no stress setting. Plus, Team GSM is providing complimentary shuttles Tuesday evening to favorite local areas!
